City Academy Whitehawk is a two form entry primary school that proudly serves our East Brighton community. The ethos and mission of the school is captured in our motto, 'Highest Expectations for All', and our children are brilliant at demonstrating our 'CAW Qualities', which are collaboration, aspiration, resilience, effort, excellence and respect. The first letters of each of these qualities come together to spell out CAREER. We are very proud of so many aspects of our school and feel we have developed particularly innovative approaches to the way we teach and the way children learn new skills in reading, computing and physical education.

 

City Academy Whitehawk opened as a new academy in September 2013 after the previous school, Whitehawk Primary School, was closed. Since then the school has gone from strength to strength and has sustained and further developed improvements. CAW was initially sponsored by City Education Trust but upon the dissolving of this trust a few years after opening, we were delighted to become Aurora's sixth school in September 2017. The school continues to improve with Aurora's guidance and support and we were very proud to receive a 'Good' report from Ofsted inspection in November 2018, which included an Early Years judgement of 'Outstanding'. As a school, we are always looking to evolve further, and we were very excited to open a brand-new nursery in January 2020.
