King Offa converted to Academy status in September 2012. We are one of four schools in East Sussex run by Aurora Academies Trust. The school is over one hundred years old and we are very proud of the heritage and history at King Offa.
King Offa Primary Academy is a school that has transformed in recent years. Whilst enjoying the charm and character of such a well-established school, we aim to look forwards and prepare our pupils for life in the twenty-first century. Our curriculum is innovative, challenging and fun to teach. Our pupils come from a diverse range of backgrounds and work together to make King Offa Primary Academy a thriving learning community. Staff are skilled, motivated, hardworking and thrive in a supportive and well-resourced environment.
At King Offa, our pupils are passionate about history. They are curious about the past and keen to understand how and why events occurred; they go on to question why people interpret the past in different ways. As a school, we believe that high-quality history and geography lessons encourage skills of critical thinking, weighing evidence, sifting arguments, and allow pupils to develop perspective and judgement. Over their years at King Offa, pupils experience a rich and relevant curriculum, not just gaining knowledge of Britain’s past, and our place in the world, but helping them to understand the challenges of our own time…through studying the past and gaining skills for the future.
We are a 'Talk for Writing' school, with a clear model for the teaching of writing. We have our own unique approach to teaching mathematics, which is effective, as reflected in pupil outcomes. In 2019, the school implemented Daily Support Reader and Destination Reader as part of its exciting and innovate whole-school approach to the teaching and learning of Reading.
